Have just bought a Rena 543 litre tank and need a bit of advice on what heater/pump/filter to use. Have been told about FX5 and Ehinem(??) Am transferring fish from existing tank including Arowana, Oscars, Severums, Pangasius and other cichlids. Any ideas would be most appreciated!

Thank you!

Congratulations on your new tank! Thats a very nice size, wish I could sneak one in at home :)

With the current prices on Fluval filters I would definately reccomend Eheim. They are less noisy and tend to last forever.

The new Eheim Professional III 2078 sounds like a dream, but Eheim Professional II 2028 should suit the tank nicely and is a lot less expensive. The Eheim filter media kits are also very good.

As for heaters I don't have much of a preference, though I would consider getting two small ones rather than one big. If the thermostat fails in one, the other will switch off and won't boil your fish.

I'm sure someone else can reccomend brands and types :)

Um... I use two filters on my 29 gallon, the aquatec 20-30 HOB filter that came with the tank, as well as a Eheim ECCO 2232, which is rated up to 100 gallons. The HOB is rated at 160 gallons an hour, and the Eheim is rated near 240 gallons an hour... so my tank is cycled nearly 5 times a hour... never cna have too much filtration.
