I have a magnum 350 on my new tank along with a cascade 1500. The 1500 seems to work well. The Magnum seems to have very little water flow. It is running but I think my AC 70 has more water flow than it does.
Is that just how these filters are? I know they are not very good but I would expect a little more than what its doing.

all my 350's pump like crazy, do you have the outlet lined up correctly with the outlet hole on the lid?
Mine slows down when its clogged up

I believe so I have taken it apart and put it back together 3 times now. I dont think its plugged up. Do you have the one that has the dual bio wheel and the other outlet thing also?

Are the hoses longer than they need to be?
They flop around and kink if that is the case. It doesn't take much to slow the flow.

could be your media is slowing down your flow. try running the filter with 0 media and check the difference. you may have to rearrange the media in your filter to maximize your flow.

Yes I got both versions of the magnum 350 they sell, one is almost 30 years old with the same motor and impeller and flows quite strongly and the 350 PRO flows like brand new, I gotta kick the spray bars down to slow the spin down or else it looks like a semi without a trailer in a rain storm.
They wouldnt be on the market for 3 decades if they werent good filters.

Ok Ill try this and see if it works.
The thing i dont like about this filter is it is only designed for two stage filtration. It just is not as versatile as the competition. Also it uses a wopging 35 watts of electricity. Thats over 3 dollars a month. Does not sound like a lot but it is a lot more than most canisters.
