marbled gar?

Can anyone tell me about this fish? I just had a confusing experience at my LFS and I know it is not a true gar but now I'm just curious...

It is probably a slant-nosed gar(really a pike characin)boulengerella maculata.It gets around 14 inches give or take an inch and is a fast ambush predator.not to be put with aggressive cichlids.amazon species
