Hello. I recently got a 20 gallon fish tank. It has 3 Echinodorus Bleheri (Amazon Swords) in it but nothing else right now. I'm going to move my 4 danios from my 10 gallon tank into the 20 gallon tank for a few days to help it cycle faster. Sometime next week, I want to purchase some new fish for the 20 gallon. I know already I want to get 6 Spotted Cories, and 6 Tiger or Cherry barbs. I also would love a gourami but don't know much about them, so I need information on what kind to get! Thanks ya'll!

Ok.. So I have a flame dwarf Gourami in my 10 gallon. It's name is Wocca Flocca Flame :) I also have one algae eater. I plan on moving him into my 20 gallon once it's cycled and the 4 fish in my 20 gallon back into the 10 gallon. What else could/should I put in the 20 gallon? Thanks!

I have 2 opaline and they are pretty cool. They are piggies and pretty much keep to themselves!

Hmm. 2 Opaline in the 20 gallon.. Could I put anything else in there? Just read about them they don't like any other gouramis in there with them.

Opalines would get too big for that tank. Tiger barbs would probably nip at the gourami, go with the cherry barbs or one of the smaller tetras.

Maybe Honey Gouramis? They are pretty cute and I believe they stay small. Definatly stay away from tiger barbs unless you can fit a school of at least 8, they destroy long fins. Even in schools they would be risky to put in there. We have long finned Rosy barbs and Checkered Barbs. Neither nip fins.

Alright. So 6 Cherry Barbs (I think they'd go well with the flame dg, colorwise) and maybe some other kind of fish... if I have room? Could I get some Algae Eaters and 1 more species?

I'd get 2 females or a pair of platinum gouramis, if you can find them.

note that "platinum gourami" can refer to two different species:
Trichogaster trichopterus: same species as the opaline gouramis. As rich already mentioned, may be a bit big for your tank. Can also get fairly aggressive.
Trichogaster leeri: aka lace or pearl gourami. A bit smaller, and generally less aggressive than trichopterus. A good choice I think.
