Freshwater Stingrays.

Arkansas is one of the very few places were it is legal to own one. I have a change right now to go buy 2 for 80$ each. I would but I don't know enough about them and such, there is just not much for them. He has them in a 30 gallon tank. They are so cool though but I would like some info on them for a future purpose maybe when I get more experience.

What species are they? Even for smaller species you are looking at 125+ gallons.

reptileguy is right. these guys need their room and need over 125G. i was aiming to get a few rays myself a few years ago but the minimum tank size drew me away.


they can have tankmates, but they would have to be fast. if the ray catches them, it will induce a swelling poison into its prey. however, tankmates would be limited if you wanted to re-produce its natural habitat with the correct PH etc.

...I think they do better in a squarish tank as well...might consider a custom build...

They do not poison their prey. They are venomous (venomous means they need to inject it somehow (stinger, fangs, etc.), poisonous means toxic if eaten), however it is for defense, not hunting.
