I Have a question, I am a Newbie to fishkeeping, i will start off with the dreaded words i went to walmart with my step son... LOL you know its going to be bad. well, we passed by the fish tank witch was placed right across the toy aisle. and he seen a red belly pacu which he had named before we even bought it. he has a fishtank but after doing a little investigateing I found it to be way! way! undersized at five gallons. his room is to small for a 100 gallon tank that i would need to half way accomadite a fish that reaches its size. what would be the smallest tank size i could use . thanks:c5:

lol, those suckers get HUMONGOUS. they need a school of at least 4, and 4 would need well over 700G fullgrown.

for a 5g, your options are limited. a betta, or 4 guppies, or a dwarf gourami would be happy

Take the pacu right back to the store...the tank is much too small...he'll die of poor water quality before he even outgrows it...

lol, pacu are one of the aquarium fish that should not be for home use. ive seen them commonly at petsmart. i have to admit, they are cute piranha wannabees, but its almost impossible for a average person to be able to house a school at home. they should be left for actual large city aquariums with tanks over 1000g

as for yours, see if you can take him back to a store for a bit of credit
