i bought 3 kuhlis at my lfs one is doing just fine, bold colors and very active (they were all doing good at first) the other 2 on the other hand are very pale and lethargic. on of them died after two weeks. i dont want to lose another one. has anyone had this experience before? what could be wrong? all the other fish are doing well. these are all juvinile kuhlis so its not normal color fading due to age. they are in a well planted tank that has been running for over 3 years now without a single loss, until now. florite substrate. that is the only sterss i can think that they are enduring, i do sometime catch the healthy one trying to burrow into it. but there is a thick layer of moss (some sort of algea) covering the bottom so i dont think that is the problem. the other fish are very peacefull and dont bother them at all. could i have just got sick fish from the start?
