This is a totally random question, but could one of those big water bottles from those office water coolers be converted into a betta tank? They're already built to hold a lot of water.

Yes they can. A friend of mine actually did that and it was freakin awesome! Until I spent the night and got thirsty. Long story short betta water + thirsty hal-asleep boy = dead betta and no water.

XD My mom is a librarian, and the library office has a water cooler. I am thinking of eventually moving my white betta to a bigger tank, and being able to make my own out of a water cooler bottle would be easier than buying a new one.

I bet your friend was NOT happy when they found out what happened to the fish!

They did the exact smae thing about a month later. It has since had the nozzle melted off with a blow-torch. It was for the best.

a submersible heater would work, but i'm curious, how do you fit a filter on a water bottle?

You flatten one side of the plastic and put a HOB on it.

A canister filter or a sponge filter would be your best choices. Sponge filter would be perfect, especially if it's just one Betta. Low current, quiet, cheap, excellent for biological and mechanical filtration.

@Cyberra Yea. It doesn't help that he'd eatin a habenaro(sp?) either. It was kinda funny watching him run around yelling water and then say f*ck it and drink half the betta water.

@johndoe222 I pity the betta more than the twit eating the habanero
