This is Shimmer, my white, gold-finned betta...

...and he's got an attitude. Since I got him, he's been the shy one, ducking out of sight the moment I made a sudden move or got too close to his tank. He's managed to find his courage since, and is now the "alpha fin-niest" out of my trio.

It's gotten normal for me to lean over to pick up something I dropped/get a better look at Firetail's bubblenest, and to hear a "bonk" from Shimmer's tank. He poofs up at everything, and I do mean everything. More than once he's poofed up and tried to rush at me, forgetting he's in a tank until his scaly, hard little head bounces off the side. One time he charged at me, bonked into the side of the tank, bumped it a couple of times, then threw the most dramatic hissy fit I've ever seen from a fish. I have to admit I was laughing so hard I almost tipped my chair over.

In comparison, Midnight is so casual, if he were any more laid back he'd be swimming upside-down, and Firetail jumps at shadows. Shimmer seems to be compensating for his pale scales with enough attitude for a critter a hundred times his size.

It's hilarious to watch, though

I had a betta like this once. He actually jumped completely out of the water and bit my finger on more than one occasion lol. Then Ive had some that wouldnt hurt a fly! haha fun little fish. I think I should get another.

XD Shimmer is in a tank with a lid; there's an opening for air and food, but he can't jump. He just keeps trying to charge me and bouncing off the side of the tank, then sulking under the plants and glaring at me when he fails. Silly fish is gonna give himself a concussion eventually

He is a very pretty fish. Do you have pics of the others?
