so im designing my 75 gallon, and plan to go the heavily planted route but only to one side of the tank, in which case im sure some of my fish will have to remain in the 55 gallon. Out of the following fish which can i put in the planted tank and not have them uproot or destroy my plants?

stock list from 2 55 gallons

3 baby clown loaches
4 bristlenose plecos
2 spotted raphael catfish
3 yoyo loaches
12 sterbai cories
3 cichlids
4 blue gouramis
6 ottos

i also plan to have in the 75 gallon, a group of rainbows, or 30-40 neon tetras

What species are those 3 cichlids?

Depends on what species of '3 Cichlids' you have whether they'll tear out plants or not. Dwarf Cichlids like Rams won't, an adult Oscar will, for example.

Rest of your stocklist would enjoy a planted aquarium and do quite well in it.

Have you decided if you're going to do a high tech or low tech planted tank yet?

thats a problem, because the cichlids were rehomed, and i have no idea what they are, i posted about them before on here, and no one could completely identify them.

I think you should try to get those identified before making any other decisions. There is a big difference between south american and africans. Size and personality. Do you have some photos of them somewhere so can get some help with them.
