Well...I just looked in my CA/SA Cichlid tank and found a bunch of Convict eggs. The only reason I am mentioning this is because I have no male Convict (because I know how easily they breed). I'm guessing either my Red Severum or Rotkeil are the dad? Either way...I may let them hatch just to see what comes out, but they will more than likely end up Gar or Dovii food (I may keep one as a pet). I'm not really a fan of hybrids, but there is something interesting about them as well (as long as they don't end up in the trade).

They might be infertile eggs. Mine did the same thing and they turned white and shriveled up. Is any other fish besides the convict protecting the eggs?

My female severum lays eggs every other week, for the past year. The only other fish in the tank is a fat CAE.

Healthy fish want to breed.
You're doing things right.

I don't think they were fertile anyways...A few of them started to turn white the last time I saw them, now they are gone. Nothing like watching a little female Convict guarding her nest from a dozen 4-5 inch Clown Loaches (and she didn't let them anywhere near them)! Great moms they are!
