Strange....

A couple months ago I bought a mushroom coral and for some reason it never opened up... Well today I went to shut off the light of the tank and it was wide open. I was very surprised... Any reason this would of all a sudden happened?

Generally, some corals extend tentacles to feed at night and even if they're night feeders; they can slowly acclimate to the tank lighting pattern and start to feed during daytime too.

Now, the question is how was this coral kept prior to you purchasing it and under what lighting condition. After being moved to your tank, does it simply not open up or does it do it only at night time without you noticing.

How has your mushroom coral been doing, is it consistently expanded now?

Yes its still open, I think I know why. I turned off the power head the day before the coral opened so i'm thinking the power head caused it to stay closed.
