I have a question. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what I can use to take a on the spot temp. reading on the water that I am putting back into my tank after a water change. A digital mouth themometer doesn't work under running water or even in just a container of water. I was just wondering what everyone else uses to make sure the water temp is close to the water temp inside the tank. Thanks for the help.
You need a multipurpose digital thermometre...

Thank you for your help, where do I get one of these multi purpose digital themometer? About how much do they run, cost wise? and in what section do I find these?
I've seen them in the fish section at petstores...haven't looked elsewhere...

i dont really know where my dad got ours or how much it was but my guess is it all depends on how fancy is. i believe ours is worth upwards of 100$ maybe 200, but im sure you can find a much cheaper one than that, try google search

You can get a digital thermometer for $20 at petsmart. They measure the temp, and you can set an alarm to go off when the temperature is too high or too low.

I always just use those little glass/mercury themometers with the suction cups that stick to the glass.
When you're ready to add water, make note of the temp then bring it over to the sink and start filling the bucket...once the temp is matched, you're good to go.
They seem to work under running water as well, for me...never had a problem, and its CHEAP ($1.50)
