well, i just got back from an LFS which I have not purchased from before with a few ghost shrimp. When I got them home, I noticed a blueish/turquoise coloring on them, and immediately feared the worst. Is this coloration normal for ghost shrimp or do I need to draft a very nasty letter?
Here is a pic. Sorry that its a bit blurry. I didn't resize it because it was already somewhat blurry, i apologize if you have a slower connection.

Your pic is so big, its throwing off the format of the forum. You need to edit your post and resize it.
Go to [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
upload your picture. Select the 600x450 option.
Save it in place of the old gigantic one.
Use the manage attatchments button to load it as a thumbnail.

wow, thats odd, its natural? none of mine have that tint. cool
...I've seen them coloured up a bit...just figured it was from whatever they were eating...
I'd personally still want to see some hard evidence that the coloration is natural. I'm VERY against painted fish.

Me too - but the color looked too much like a natural crustacean color for me to not check it out before I called for someones head. I found three different blue varieties before I said anything.
I don't necessarily trust info on the internet and I darn sure wouldn't take the word of a salesman so the link I attached is from a site that doesn't sell them.
I have 4 dyed fish (tetras) I hadn't even considered the idea that some sick butthole would dye a fish when I bought them. Every time I look at them I am reminded of (A) What greedy #@$holes people can be and (B) How important it is to research livestock before buying.

It could also be that the shrimp cross bred with another shrimp giving it the bluish tint. Alot of shrimp will cross breed and you end up with interesting colors. Amano look to me very similar, so maybe you even got a few amano in the batch. Petshrimp.com has some excellent pictures of several different shrimp available if you want to look around and compare.

It's more like RUE said before. Depending on what they ate they could take some coloration...

I just got some ghost shrimp today and when I was looking at they in the bag there where all very white looking. After being in my tank for a while some of them have become quite blue. Maybe I am crazy but I also observed one turn a darker green and brown after it found a big piece of food.
