Ya, skunk loach, better kept in groups than just 2. They can be a nuisance depending on the other fish in the tank, they grow to fair size and are semi-aggressive fish.

2-3" tops, agreed they are best in groups. One of my personal favorite loaches, though they are very nippy. Fiesty enough to cohabitate with the meanest of cichlids, and too fiesty to keep with long finned fish.
They are also very good at hiding in small spaces. Loaches in general are known for it, but these guys take it to another level.

I have a small weather loach in with 2 fantail goldfish, which I was told would be ok. Is this a good idea and was I told right or will the weather loach attack the two fantails. They have been together now for a month and at the moment they seem to be getting along happily together. The reason I'm asking is I've been reading other threads on the skunk loach or am I totally on the wrong track with comparison to my weather loach.

In general weather loaches are amongst the more peaceful of the loaches so they should not have too many problems with your fantails.

Weather loaches are big softees. Don't even have stiletto's.

IME weather loaches tend to be hyperactive buggers, but not aggressive toward other fish of their own or different species. Should be fine w/goldfish, definitely active enough to compete well for food.
