Anyone use their plant substrate?

Bang for the buck the price of it seems hard to beat.

Lady Hobbs uses it and recommends it. I plan on getting some for a tank I'm working on now, but I haven't yet.

That's right. It's all I use and love it. The black is very dusty but so is eco- complete and Florite. It settles. The amazon color isn't nearly as dusty. A 5 lb bucket is plenty for a 55 gallon tank.

This tank is half amazon and half black.

Richly planted and very nice, Lady Hobbs. Is that brick the aquarium background or the wall behind the tank?

I have been converted to AP.coms substrate. I only have it in my 210g discus tank now but as time progresses it will be in all my tanks, Its phenominal

Here it is

its awesome stuff, I have no regrets and am ordering another 5g bucket for this tank. The 210 took 5 5g buckets to fill it 3"
I am thinking I will need 2-3 buckets for a 55g.

No regrets.

Good looking substrate. And beautifully planted. If I ever decide to have living plants in my substrate, this product I will definitely look into.

Lady Hobbs, do you have a close up of just the substrate? I like that look ALOT, I need to change out the substrate in my 55 and was going to just get more black diamond but that substrate you got is very persuading. I use eco/flourite mix now to get a more natural look but it compares nothing to yours, wow.

I use it and love it, I have 8 gallons in my 75, plants love it, and it is a bit dusty at first but it settles right out.

Yeah do not rinse this stuff, and the free buckets and lids are awesome.

I ordered my other bucket, root tabs, liquid ferts and one of their end of the day 36count plant packages, cant wait to see what I get.:19:

Says to rinse once but I rinsed a couple times. The black is very dusty but isn't it all? My black looked even darker than yours, White Devil. You're looks more gray than mine did but could be the photo, too.

Went to take a photo but my batteries are dead but this tank is all Amazon substrate. I liked the black but it was so dark I couldn't see my corys hardly so mixed it to lighten it up a bit.

One 5 gallon bucket worked in my 55 gallon tank.

yeah its grey under 640w of T5HO goodness.

weird on my buckets it says do not rinse. It wasnt really that dusty to be honest, My flourite was tons more dusty then the AP substrate was.

It is really light though, when the discus blow on a crumb of food they kick up some of the substrate and then gorge on all the pieces of food they didnt see, my cories are getting ticked at em.

Really? How odd. Mine said rinse one time altho I think that was printed on only one bucket out of three. Different labeling I guess. I pulled half that mess out of that tank yesterday. I couldn't find the neons. LOLOL I was going to give them all little machets to find there way around.

I'm going to get more for my parrot tank again. They enjoyed throwing it around and now they have gravel and not having near as much fun. I like this substrate a lot. Always have good plant growth and I like it about 100 times better than sand.

I like the amazon a lot. I thought about the red river (I like bright color) but I am afraid of it being too over the top.

Me, too. The color chart on their colors is really crummy, too. You really can't tell very well at all.

The Red River actually looks a little darker than the Amazon. I might try some of that next time myself.

Hello Lady Hobbs, you posted this years back but i am just setting up a 120 with 24 cory cats and would like to know if you have any corydoros Hybrosis the little baby ones that dont get any bigger than an inch have had problems in my 75 with them loosing there barbells ( eco complete) other cory's (much bigger) are fine with eco complete

Was also wondering if you use there soft belly substrate now that it is available?
