what lighting do you use?


what camera/and settings do you use? I can take pics of that quality but only when its on autofocus and macros are set.

Very nice fish you have, I miss my GBR's but the colors of the bolivian when spawning are amazing too, I am trying to get pics of my male he is in top color form right now.

its flora glo lighting if u wanted to know what's on that tank, also the camera is a kodak easyshare 10X optical i normally shoot with the flash on but i've been changing between smart capture and depending on the light coming from outside I start being more specific and I change to a lot of different settings but it just depends on what else might be shining in the tank haha

i used to have bolivian rams in the same tank with some germans before i traded them in, take your time and if your camera tells you the settings with smart capture just try and pay attention to how it changes to the light and keep ya flash on maybe even tone it halfway just a bit depending on your light (sometimes i shoot without flash) but the trick has always been to shoot a lot then sort out the good ones then go for round 2 and do about 50 pics you'll see adjustments you need to make easier depending on your light

also one more thing, try and shoot something else in the tank that is not alive like a rock to not stress the fish from constant flash directly at them this will also help you to fine tune, rams normally aren't that sensitive to flashes as some other fish I have though

I never use the flash, its off unless i go in and turn it on, and i only use tank lights for lighting. its hard to get a pic of them due to the decor in the tank, they are buried behind a large sword on top of some shale stone.

i'd say try the flash and shoot about 5-6in away from the glass? you should have enough play but im pretty sure you'd get some awesome pics
