I started my tank a few weeks ago now, I have yet to lose a fish and my ciclids are doing great. My question now is, I have alot of rocks in the tank. Its a 55 gallon with probably about 100-150lbs of lace rock for caves and such. But although I tried to make the caves look nice. My technique for aquascaping seems to be lapping. What can I do to make the rocks look alittle nicer. And are there any plants I could put in with Malawi ciclids that they won't eat and will look nice. It just seems as though my tank is rather bare at the moment.

And I', in dire need of change in rockscaping.

Plants that the malawis won't eat will most likely be uprooted by digging. In regards to the rock-scaping I guess you have to keep rearranging until you find something you like. If you post a pic someone might be able to give a suggestion.

...don't be too symmetrical in your decorating...asymmetrical tends too look a lot better, esp. in a smaller tank...

For example...group your rock closer to one end, and have open space at the other...

malawis eat most plants. my africans will nibble on everything.

the form of rockscaping ive found best is having a large stack in the middle, and slowly go down to each side (left and right), then add fake plants. Jessie has a CRAZY 75h cichlid tank with beautiful rocks and plants

I think you should post a pic. It would help us to help you. I actually heard that malawi chichlids stay away from vallinseria, but I'm not sure.

Oh. Well I just had a n00b moment. I read the post and figured it was someone actually trying to help the OP and they just happened to have a rock company.
