My P Catfish likes to swim around in laps at night, sometimes fast, is this normal? During the day I barely ever see him.

Pictus pims are VERY active. What size tank is he in?

Lots of fish are more active at night than dring the day - My 30 gallon tanks sound like theres a frat party going on after I turn out the lights!

LOL!

Most catfish are shy and do not like being out in the light during the day, but this behavior seems odd for a pictus cat, since they are usually very active. If there isn't a whole lot of hiding places in the tank, they might not be out during the day.

He hides in a castle for most of the day but I do see him swimming around the bottom from time to time. However at night time he is all action.

...as asked the second time...

Pictus cats are very active fish and should be kept in a tank that is plenty long. You will read most recommendations for a 4' long tank at least.

You could get away with a 55, but i would recomend a 75.

most people say 20g is the min., but id say 33g is best

I think he'd need more length than a 33. I think a 4' tank is needed for a pictus, they really love to swim.

i read a few pages with conflicting info. about.com said min 20g, and a few others said 20g, but some say 55g.

Agreed, but if you have ever observed their behaviors you'd see that they swim around a lot. I just think they'd be happier with more room.
