Found this beautiful guy last night when I was shopping. Also found a really nice Marimo Ball for like $4.64 which was a really good price for it's size. I'll post a pic of it later.

We've decided to name him Kikashi.

Now that is a pretty one. See, who says you can't get good deals at Walmart anymore? :ssmile:
Be sure and post more photos as he gets healthier.

He seems to be doing just fine. No sign of disease and his water was pretty good for the usual cup fare. But I've seen those cups in horrid condition and have talked to the store managers about it. Lately they seem to be doing better. There's a different person working that area now it seems so hopefully she'll do a much better job than the guy that's usually there.

I do hate seeing them in the cups though... it's a weakness I guess. If I could do it I'd probably take them all home but I just can't. So I get one here and there and try to give them a better life. They brighten my life in return by just living and thriving.

i've lost hope for the walmarts here near my home. they don't care for their fish section :(.
it's good to see such a fine betta being held there, and even better to see him in a good home.

Beautiful betta! He almost has a cool look to his colours. Reminds me of winter. The Walmart here didn't take very good care of the fish. A couple years ago, they stopped selling fish.

Just an update. Kakashi (yeah, I misspelled it when I made the post) is doing GREAT! He's built a nest that covers more than half of his temp home (Kritter Keeper.) He's also seemed to inspire the males next to him to do the same as well! They're all building huge bubble nests! I only have one female and quite frankly I think she'd kill virtually any of my males. She's enormous and very aggressive for a female. She is older though and many older females show 'male' signs of aggression and even build nests! I'd love to breed my guys but now is just not the right time for it. I need to get other things in place before doing any Betta breeding. I've got a ton of Shelly fry right now and they're the priority before jumping into another breeding program.

I love his coloring! The way his head has the black highlighting his mouth makes it almost a study in anatomy, since his head shows up so well against his iridescent body. He's truly beautiful, and looks surprisingly healthy for a Wal-Mart rescue. Although, my mother did give me 2 Wal-Mart goldfish for Christmas when I was young and they lived for at least a couple years. I guess the hardy ones make it through.

Anyway, you've done a good deed! He must be so happy with his new home! :22:
