I wasn't really planning on it, but my discus tank has come out very biotope specific. I decided to check and see what exact rivers and areas of the rivers the fish in it (discus, cardinal tetras, bristlenose plecos, rams, and sterbai cories) are from, and found their ranges all intersect where the Rio Negro meets the Amazon. Some overlap much more than that (bristlenose, rams, and cardinals all inhabit the entire Rio Negro basin, and the bristlenose, discus and sterbai all inhabit the middle Amazon), but they all intersect where the two meet. I was just going by water conditions, I didn't realize it was so exact.

Pretty cool! I was kinda going for biotope when I was thinking BGK...

...and I'm even thinking it now...with the SW...but I'm having a hard time finding any reef biotope lists...

You gotta love that huh? What about your plants and aqua scapping?

Driftwood, fake amazon swords, nice sand bottom (although not the right color). All good except the bowl feeding.

For saltwater biotopes buy Saltwater Aquarium Models by John Tullock. I have the freshwater one and will probably be getting the saltwater one soon. LOTS of very specific biotopes.

The have those biotope books at our bookstore...maybe I'll get myself the SW biotope one...

...but I have a limited budget...and was hoping to get more reef books first...

So much to buy...so little money to buy it all with! :c3:
