I’ve read a little bit of conflicting info about using both acrylic and glass to make a sump.
I’m using a glass 55 gallon tank for my sump. If I were to use acrylic or plexiglass for the baffles, could I use aquarium safe silicone to secure them in place ?
Would the silicone adhere to the acrylic ?
I would like to hear your thoughts

From what I read when I did my 210 build(it came with a 55g sump) is that acrylic does not bond to glass with GE-1. Something about the silicone not being able to "bite" into the acrylic.
here are a few links i kept from my build

Thanks for the links. Very helpful indeed
Looks like I'll have to go to the glass shop after all

that was mostly the reason I scrapped using the 55 and got a aquapro400 for the 210 instead(size helped alot too) I tired for days to get the silicone to set but even 5 days and silicone was hard the sheet of acrylic fell right out.

When I biult my stand for my 90 gallon SW tank, I was only thinking about using a 55 gallon tank (max) as a sump. The SW LSF has some great acrylic sumps in stock but none of them will fit in my stand, they are all wider than a 55 gallon.
Lesson learned for me.
