My first pair of kribs have become parents, I just spotted all the tiny fry this evening in a small cavewhile doing a water change.
The pair of adult kribs have become very territorial the last few days but i just thought it was kribs being kribs but now i know why.
Because its an open cave, ie. its like a piece of triangular rock with three entrances/exits i was wondering if i should move the fry into a smaller tank?
It would be nice to breed them and im afraid of the fry being picked off by other fish despite their parents chasing everything in sight away. i have a few freshwater and amano shrimp in there too.
since the fry are only millimetres in size if i have to move them how do i do it? at the moment they are all in little alcoves inside the sandstone cave so just wondering how to rehome them??
Also because they dont move fromwhere they are how are they being fed?? Something i should worry about or is mum and dad providing for them somehow??
Any help at all would be appreciated

I was in the same position as u 4 weeks ago.

I found 16 tiny fry without expecting them.

I fed mine powder flakes and crushed up some frozen brine shrimp as I couldnt get baby brine.

They have done exceptionnally well and are about 13mm now and eating blood worms and anything else that they can get.
I made sure I dropped a pince of crushed flakes right in front of them.

Mum and dad have been super parentwise but a pain re all my other fish. i've had to get rid of fish to try avoid cramped conditions and have even put in a mesh net as a divider wall to try calm them down and make them feel more secure regarding the fry.
I started with 16 and now have 13 after 4weeks. Not sure where the missing 3 went but parents make sure nothing gets anywhere near the babies.
Super aggressive and protective!

They are doing great and already are starting to get very brave and venture away without mum or dad with them, and in a flash mum will appear if anything gets to close.

Its excellent to watch them protect and herd the babies about!

Goodluck!

I agree totally with you, its amazing to see them watch over their fry 24/7 but i have notice i have lost a couple of neons tetras and harlequin rasbora in the last few days/nights, obviously they ventured too close for comfort!!
So would you just let them be and let nature take its course??
i doubt anything will be let near the fry as the adult pair have taken over 50% of a 250 litre tank!! all my other fish are shoved over into one little corner!!
i couldnt tell you how many fry i have at the moment, if i got a couple of survivors i would be happy, Im just wary of when they get a bit bigger and try to leave the safe haven of the cave that they will be swallowed up!! I phoned my local fish store and i was told that the fry would die if i tried to move them into a breeding net in the same tank that they need to go into a separate tank??

Im very new to it allmyself and learning as I go.

But I have just left them be and theyve bn fine. Im sure my rainbow shark or black skirts would hav loved to eat them but theyve all been kept in their place.

Frequent water changes also to keep your water tip top aswell for them.
