I'm tempted to put a Colocasia esculenta (aka taro, aka elephant ears) in my open top 55gal. I love the plant, it would look so amazing with tubers planted in substrate and leaves growing above the water.
I have read that it's toxic though. Toxic for humans trying to eat it raw, that is. That doesn't necessarily mean it's toxic to fish living around its roots... Does anybody have it in their tanks?

I'd go for it. Many people grow terrestrial plants out of the tops of their aquariums. It's a type of hydroponics. :ssmile:
