My canopy only allows for a 24" & a 36" light. My setup is for T12s..In this 55gallon what will I need to do to reach around 2-3wpg?...And the tanks is about 20" deep. :sconfused:

How many T12s does it hold?

What I do, and have done, back when I had just a 55 to light, is get a hinged glass top, and put two four foot strip lights on top of it, with two 40 watt T8s in each, for 160 watts.

woops. it is a flat back hex. i know i know..it was a gift. this is why i can only fit in 1 24" and 1 36" . only those 2 bulbs

Well, in that case, your best option would be a halide pendant, a 250 watt bulb would give your all the light you'd need. You'd have to toss the canopy, and have a glass company cut you a cover for your tank, hinged of course. Metal halide pendants are commonly used for odd shaped tanks like yours that are difficult to light properly for plants.

This is the canopy...and where the bulbs plug into. I figured I could add two more bulbs where the hood opens up
