Hello All!

I will start by telling u about my setup.
90 gal. Tank
30 gal. Sump
2 live plants
2 oscars, 1 pleco

One oscar is about 10 inches the other is 5-6 inches.
The Pleco is 12 inches

I recently got this tank from a friend. I used Zebra Danio's to cycle the tank. (12 of them). I figured when I put the oscars in, they would just eat them. But I was wrong. The Danio's seem to be way to fast for the oscars or they are just to lazy to bother with them. The oscars dont seem to be stressed out with them being there, they just look at them every once now and again and thats it.

My question is, Even though they seem like they are not stressed out with them being there, should I just take the Danio's out anyway? I dont want to give my poor wimpy oscars a hard attack because 12 little danio's are in the tank haha.

The Pleco could care less about anything :-p

Thoughts?

I couldnt find any youtube video or anyone else who has had this happen! Maybe my oscars are just a bunch of softies!?

Thanx a ton.

The O's will probably eat them at some point, probably just waiting for the right time. That'd be my thinking.

I wouldn't worry about the danios stressing the oscars, I'd worry about how you cycled the tank. The bioload of 12 danios won't even equal the bioload of 1/4 of an oscar that size, not to mention 2 O's and 1 large plec. I'd be monitoring the ammonia and nitrite very closely if you just recently put those big fish in.

:+1: Totally forgot to say that in my post. Lab Rat is absolutely right and I agree that you should be watching your parameters because your bio load just increased massively.

I can assure you that the danios will not bother the oscars. Please keep a close eye on your water test results.
