he is about 2-3 inches long and i put half of a algae wafer (full wafer is about 1/2 inch in diameter maybe less) in the tank and he still is tearing up my plants. is he still hungry or is he just a butthead?

i guess he just likes fresh food over prepackaged. try giving him some fresh vegetables like cucumber, zucchini and other squash. i've also read that they like fruits like cantaloupe.

do you have any driftwood in the tank for him to chew on? most plecos require it to be healthy. that may also be the reason he is chewing on your plants.

Canned green beans seem to be a favorite food for my BN's, but I do have a few hundred, so anything adible doesn't last long. I have noticed they eat the beans faster than the zucchini though.
