This is just a thought, i was thinking of getting some shrim and raising them in my planted tank and occasionally feed them to my cichlids for some live action . Would rainbowfish eat them since they are in the planted tank also? what do you guys think of that idea ?

If they are the small kind, they sure will.:hmm3grin2orange: My Rainbows act like Piranhas sometimes at feeding time!

So your saying the shrimp wouldnt last long in a rainbowfish community with some cory cats? Im talking about the red cherry shrimp

Mine would eat them. They eat live smaller worms that size. Maybe they leave bigger shrimp alone.

Yes they will eat them.
i wouldnt mind them eating them i just wonder would they have time to multiply ? because i plan to add them to give my tank because i think they will look and when they get out of control set a trap and feed my cichlids every now and then. Or will they take them out as soon as i put them in the tank because i know they are good hiders

I would doubt that many at all will survive very long.

well i guess thats not going to work lol. i thought that the multiply so fast that it would be impossible for them to eat them all. thats all . i may or may not try and see what happens. if i do what shrimp could survive at adult size ?

I have 3 dwarf neons in my 10 gallon aquarium along with 2 rhino shrimp and the rainbows have never harmed my shrimp, nor have the 6 gold tetras in the same aquarium. I have had this setup for monthes

If it fits in their mouth, they eat'em. Dwarf neons do have smaller mouths

With all you already have in that tank, neon rainbows would be better anyway.
