Today I am missing the center piece of my filter tube. I just know it went down the toilet yesterday. The light on my 10 gallon stopped working today and the light on my 55 went last month. Not the bulb but the light itself. And one of my heaters decided to stop working.

Does it ever end? :9: I can't seem to catch up on my shopping list.

...no...it never ends...

If it did I wouldn't be making weekly stops at the pet store just like I do the grocery store...

But that IS a lot to happen all at once!

It was thru the grapevine here that a PetSmart was moving into town and I was so excited about having a LFS around. I've been waiting and waiting but no signs of one yet. I dropped a note to cooperate just to see what they said and they wrote back that NO plans were being made to have one here.

Crapoola!

Lady, your luck has not been good lately. Sorry to hear of the equipment problems. No fun.

What kind of heater was it that died? Just IMO, the Marineland Stealth heaters are the best. Ebo-Jager is also good, I have a few of them.

It could be worse. A coworker of mine used to have a decent sized tank and was inspired by my work tank to set it up again. She had worries about keeping fish again, but the problem was not what she or I expected. It seems that her old heater has broken down - she electrocuted her fish with no survivors.

FYI she sped up her cycle with Biospira before adding her fish and really was looking forward to continuing this hobby.

Holy COW, electrocution! I'd say the heater did more than break, it decided to take a homicidal rage! Wow.

If its a flouro light, is it the light itself or the round starter that is located somewhere on the body of the light, if its only the starter they twist out and are replaceable. the only things that can really go on a flouro are the tube the starter or the ballast.

Good point here. The starters are a dime a dozen, very cheap and easy to install.

Hey, look on the bright side. You at least you didnt have angelfish problems today!

I just had a bulb go yesterday as well. I could tell it was getting ready to go, because there was a little bit of algae going. I told my mom 2 days before yesterday "i bet you that bulb will go soon. The spectrum shifted and the algae is going". Sure enough, 2 days later, it went out.

Hey, at least it gives you an excuse to go to the LFS.

Yea, if I want a 2 hour drive to do so.

I'm with you, Lady. I have a LFS about 5 minutes from here, but they stock the same thing all the time. Sucks. I am about 45 minutes from about 3 larger stores.

I'd be happy with a bloody store that sells decent thermometers, decent gravel and gallons of dechlorinator instead of these tiny bottles that I go thru in less than a month. My God! TEST KITS!!!!! I even have to order them. No wonder no one in Northern MI has tropical fish.

:jaws:

I spent the day baking Laterite balls. I don't even bake a cake. LOL
