I'm thinking of adding mountain minnows to my unheated 55g tank. It's not quite a "coldwater" tank because it's in a heated living room.
I know the minnows should be fine in the winter when the room temp is around 68-72F. Would they suffer too much in the summer when it gets up to 80F in the daytime or is that acceptable?

Does the tank reach 80 degrees too? That's not ideal, but white clouds seem to be resilient.

I've had 12 in my tank for well over a year. My tank temp is around 79. My clouds are beautiful and appear to be thriving.

Thanks, that sounds reassuring.
The tank does get up to 80F for maybe 3-4 hours a day. 72-78F the rest of the time in the summer.

Just make sure you have sufficient circulation with water surface movement and WCMM should be fine at 80 degrees for 3-4 hours per day. They may not show their best colors or flare at each other with temperature at 80, but other than that, they should be fine.

Thanks Taurus! Circulation in my tank is very good.
