Today was nuts! I found a little shelf unit at a garage sale for $5 in great shape (and on wheels) so today removed the center shelf and used it for my two small tanks.
Seems it took me forever to get this set up, borrow the tools to remove the metric screws in the shelf I omitted, cut the air tubing shorter, clean the tanks and hang the power cords. (I always hang them for safety.)
I was starting to clean up my mess when I noticed the tank stand on my 29 gallon was leaning a bit. WHAT! When I moved the TV cabinet to get to the fish stand, I then realized the TV unit was literally keeping the tank from falling over.
The stand was made of press board but had been holding the tank for over a year. When my tank leaked a couple months back, I believe it had to have soaked this pressboard.
I never drained a tank and moved fish so fast in my life. I had both vacuums going and was able to rescue the tank before it come crashing down.
Now I look around and wonder what in heck can I use for a tank stand? I settled that problem by putting my TV on the floor and using that stand. The tank just fits. It had a shelf that I also removed and took the back off so I could get to the power outlet from the bottom. I can add retro lights now and plant this tank.
My afternoon project turned into a 6 hour JOB. Moving the TV about killed me as it's a big set. Plus I fell over the kitchen chair and bruised my side. (Yes, I'm clumsy.)
I cleaned the house and lay down for a 3 hour nap!!!
Now to buy a TV stand!
