I was told on these forums that using shells would increase my pH in my tank.
What sort of shells do I use? Do the shells have to come from a body of fresh water? or can Salt water shells be used?

There is a beach quite close to where I live and so I can get a lot of sea shells from there if they are ok to be used.

You can use the beach shells, just make sure you clean them properly. Use hot water, you can then crush them with a hammer and put them in a mesh bag in your tank.

Use a 40:1 ratio of water to bleach. Then rinse really well in dechlorinated water.

I think this is a good article to help explain things.

Its what the police put on your car if there is something supposedly wrong with it. on the sticker it reads, Notice Ordering Defective Vehicle Off Road. Means I get to go home early and come back when I get it back up to scratch.
Then you have a pink sticker. Difference here is with the green sticker your allowed to drive it home, pink sticker is Notice Ordering Unsafe Vehicle Off Road, meaning you get to go home too :) (on the back of a tow truck)

Back on topic, I was told it will increase pH, didnt get told anything about it hardning water.. Maybe something written in that article posted above.
