Is there a fish that would fit in a 29 gallon with 6 kuhli loaches, 8 cherry barbs, and 6 guppies that would eat guppy fry but not prey on the adults. Thank you.:hmm3grin2orange:

calvus or altolamprologous compressiceps would do the trick. they're small shell-dwelling cichlids (african) who prey on fry. not sure how compatible with your fish they are, but they are tough little fish who aren't too aggressive IME.

I had a dwarf gourami that slurped up my platy fry.

Would a calvus be a permament resident?

Angelfish love guppy fry, so would most similar-size cichlid species. Calvus (or compressiceps) are very shy and reclusive fish in general, and need very hard, alkaline water. Not the best fit for a "community" tank of active fish. A kribensis or even a single convict would be a better choice IMO.

My flame gourami is a great fry eater. So arent my tiger barbs!
