I have 2 female shortfins and am looking for a male to add in with them. My LFS just got in a bunch of absolutely jaw-dropping sailfins, but I've seen a full-grown one before and they're HUGE compared to the shortfins. Can I mix the two types or are they basically two different species? I don't really care if they'll breed or not, but will they get along as if I'd put a male shortfin in there or will he eventually get way bigger and start bullying the females?

I assume you are talking about mollies. The mollies you have are sphenops hybrids, and the 'jaw dropping sailfins' are most likely velifera species, since they are the largest of the mollies and males develop huge dorsal fins.

yes, sorry. Mollies. The females are just the basic kind, the males I was looking at have the elongated dorsal fin. My LFS had a fullgrown one in once though for a special order and it was way bigger than any mollie I'd ever seen.
