ok so ive a quick question about a plant.

i've attached a few pics of it.. can anyone tell me what it is?

I got it out of my neighbours pond that she has had for years and has koi etc in it.. lilly pads and reeds etc.. full works going on it..

but this stuff is in it by the load so i grabbed a handful thinking i might be able to put it into the tank..

now theres no roots to it as i just pulled it and it came out and broke off quite easy..

can any1 id it for me and tell me if i could use it in my tank??

Looks like Potamogeton or commonly known as "Pond weed"
yeah it should be completely safe to use in the tank but you will need to anchor the bottom stem into the subs with a rock and elastic bad evntually it will root itself into the subs, you will however have to watch out as this stuff is prolific in its growth if water conditions are good it will also suck nutrients out of the water at a quick rate.
the other thing to watch out for are pond snails that WILL be on this plant.

Looks more like Najas guadalupensis to me. Sometimes hard to distinguish between some of the fine-leaved Potamogeton sp.
