I am new to bettas. I am wondering what temp. and PH they need. BTW this is my first post.

See the following link for some basic guidance:

Regarding your specific question, a temp of around 80 and a PH of around 7 is typically suggested.

Do you already have the fish and tank setup?

If you buy them locally, then the PH of your tap water should be fine. A neutral PH is better, but not required. Temperature is important: 25 to 30C is a good place to start. The temperature you choose might depend on his tank mates.

I also would consider to buy your Betta from a breeder instead the ones at Petsmart or Petco. They are much more healthy and liveley.

Not to mention more beautiful. Breeders are great if you can find a local one.

I just googled my city and "betta". There are a number of betta breeder associations, and they often have databases of breeders. Also, aquabid sometimes has info about where the seller is, and it is clear based on how many they are selling that they are breeders.
