View Full Version : well water
i put well water in my tank for my fish and it doesn't have chlorine or bacteria in it. when i got it i added the stress coat and later the stress zyme. in a week and a half all my fish were dead. i wanted to know if it was because i added chemicals i didn't need.

could of been a build up of ammonia in your tank.

Ok. A little iron shouldnät be a problem. To answer your original question i can say that the chemicals shouldn't give you problem even you add them when they are not needed,
Is it the same water source you normally use?
I believe Scooter said something about you having very high pH where you lived. correct?
Which fish have died? How big was the last water exchange that starte this?
(a lot of questions I know but information is always good to solve a problem)
what do you mean "normally use". if u mean in our house then yes, it is the first water that i started the fish tank as
yesw i do have a high ph but we checked it a week ago
from first to last is my balloon molly, one tetra, swordtail, polkadot catfish, 3 tetras.
my regular molly is still alive but not looking well
there was no water exchange

OK. In that case I have to agree with Rollie and say that it can be ammonia build up in your tank. Have you checked?
no but i will tommorow
i also just cleaned my tank for the first time today

Ok. that will have lowered the ammonia level in your tank so it might have been high even if it ins't tomorrow.
