What kind of numbers are you looking to produce (e.g., trying to replace mortality in your tanks, or trying to sell/trade them, or raising as live food?). Honestly, with livebearers you just need to add water.
Go with a 1:5 male/female ratio to make sure your females aren't too stressed out. Depending on the scale of your operation- For guppies, a 10 gallon will suffice. I do not suggest any of the breeding nets as this only stresses fish out, and stressed fish can lead to mortality during birth or an abortion. I suggest going with a heavy amount of plants such as mosses, hornwort, or floating plants. The more cover, the better chance of fry finding hiding spots and not being subject to cannibalism. Once fry are visible, move them to a tank of their own with established filter and water from their birth tank. Thy will take to crushed flake food when their yolk sacs have been consumed.
For larger livebearers like mollies, you will need a larger tank. You will have to adjust depending on the temperament of the fish you have. I have had success with this setup, but others may have others techniques that worked better for them. Good luck.

Common livebearers breed so easily, many shops will not even take them off your hands for free.
