View Full Version : Maracyn-Two treatments done!
Okay, my 5 day antibiotic course is done. Now here's the question--do a huge water change and add carbo to take out the rest of the meds? Or should I be waiting a few days for the medication to completely resolve? Never had to use antibiotics before so I need a little help.

Water change and add the charcoal. How do the fish look?
Looking very good, no obvious signs of problem. I think tonight I am going to give them one extra night of treatment just to be sure then change out the water, etc. tomorrow.

I've used Maracyn-2 on my betta but I put him in a hospital tank to treat him and I was changing the water every other day and adding more meds as directed. I think after the treatment was done I just put him back in his own tank. I really can't remember if I've ever treated a whole tank with antibiotics. I did just start treating for velvet in all 3 of my tanks and I'm planning on doing the treatment for the 5 days and then just doing a regular PWC. I figure it will dilute the treatment but still leave a little in there which I'm hoping will help knock out the velvet.

Glad it appears to have done the job. Now to figure out what's going on with your gourami's.
Everything in that tank seems to be stable now. I increased my weekly water changes from around 40% to more like 55%. Hoping that helps the situation. Certainly can't hurt!
