Well i guess i should scroll a little more often...:19:
Well here's a picture of my future build... picture shown is the tank itself, just the skeleton of the tank.. I'll be adding more pics as i get more of it completed.
Dimensions are 8' x 3' x 3'
Any comments will be greatly appreciated...

You need more supports in the front and in the center to make that strong enough to not worry about.
I like your idea though.
Here is a nice wood tank build.Notice the beams he made for support.

On the stand? yes i'll be adding a few more posts.. just wanted to leave it open so i can work on the sump tank underneath the plywood tank. I'll be running all the plumbing as well on this design.. hopefully in the next couple weeks i'll be able to get it fully completed and open to comments on the whole design.
I know i'll have questions regarding glass size/piping size/ pump etc.

You have lots of to support the direct load but I see nothing that will stop it from swaying side to side.Without that type of support it can fold sideways. Are you closing in the bottom and making it a cabinet or leaving it open?

Yeah i'm gonna plywood the whole base and enclose it with doors, trim, the whole finishing package!

hah... I've got a friend that lives in Sudbury.. If my wife didn't hate the "rock world" up that way i would definitely move to that area... especially the Muskoka areas!!
