My friend has a female crowntail betta fish (i think its a crowntail, i'm not too sure) in a 5 gallon tank that has been cycled. I went over to his house the other day and he said that she died somehow. He believes that his fish had too many eggs in her stomach and she couldn't lay them so she died... Is this possible? I'm just wondering

Hym, the only way to know for sure is to do a dissection.

Once I thought a goldfish of mine was not able to lay eggs. She got really fat and with a huge round belly. Even the aquarium owner thought the fish might be pregnant after her personal inspection. But the fish died so a friend and I cut her own only to find that she had somehow trapped a bunch of air bubbles inside her gut. It was the strangest thing. I was in grammar school at the time. God, that was like 30 years ago. :shappy:
