well during my tank gazing i noticed that 1 of my honey gouramis and 1 bloodfin are very skinny by comparison to their buddies. they are eating and acting crazy but they are super thin. i have seen a few posts on here talking about tb in the tank and how fish were skinny. are there any other warning signs i should look out for? any suggestions?

Crooked spines are very common for TB.

I don't know if it is one way vs. another (side-to-side vs. up and down). If you have an isolation/hospital tank I might consider separating them out so you can closely monitor them.

Ah, well that won't exactly work then, will it. Just keep a close eye on them. Hopefully they'll be okay. How old are they? Could it be age-related? One of my neon dwarf gouramis got really thin before he died, most likely due to age.

i've had them for 6 months or so. so age shouldn't be an issue as all of these guys were bought small and i have seen them all grow some. i guess i'll just have to keep a close eye on them.

Maybe it isnt tb, maybe its just some worms in their intestines. Just take a closer look at their excrements, maybe you see some redish things hanging out of their butt. Then its definetely worms.

By the way, its curable, but you have to treat the whole tank. With parasites, isolation is useless.

TB seems to be very difficult to pin down because it can effect fish is totally different ways. I've also read that they can carry TB all their life and then begin to exhibit symtoms as they get older. Scary! I had some white clouds that had very crooked spines that developed after I had them for over year and they had grown quite large since the time I got them so I assume they were geting older. Also had 2 guppies that suddenly got very skinny within 2 weeks of getting them. They also stopped eating. The white clouds never seems to lose their appetites. I assumed they all had TB from the things I've read about it.

Shortly before they die of old age Lifebearers very often become very skinny and stop eating.- Thats absolutely normal, and hasnt anything to do with tb.
