After neglecting the water lilies in the backyard pond for a few years I figured they needed some attention, so Labor Day I drained the pond. Several of the pots had been completely overgrown and clumped together, and there was one giant mass that actually covered half the bottom. It wasn't easy to separate the clumps, much less the plants themselves, but after about an hour they were broken down into manageable chunks. They're temporarily stored in a kiddie pool until I get some of them repotted in baskets of clay, but there are waaay more plants than I plan to put back into the pond. Most of the rhizomes are white or red plants, and extras are posted in the classified section.
Here's a few pics, would have taken more but we both had muddy hands:

Like the iceberg that sank the Titanic, most of the monster was below the surface. The black part is actually small roots, not dirt:

Temporary holding facility for the masses, most of these are potted:

After the rest of the chunks broken down from the monster joined the party:

Wow! Wish mine would grow like that!

That is something I need to do in the next couple weeks before it gets too cold- cdo a good cleaning of my pond.

I need to get some netting to pull over it too for the leaves because or else it will take me until next spring to get them out!

You guys did alot of work!!

Wow. You should easily be able to sell a ton of that. It's huge. I found your ad in Buy/Sell not in classifieds. Does this grow in tanks or is this stictly for ponds?

These are all hardy lilies, not the dwarf bulbs usually sold at Wal-Mart. They would grow in a large open-top aquarium with enough light, but the rhizomes do get quite large as the plant grows.
