I love keeping shrimp and I thought it would be neat to add some mini-crabs to my tank. Are there any minis that you can trust with fish and shrimp? I'm not worried about my fish hurting the crabs. They're good with the shrimp. I keep my tank at 80F and always make sure my water's clean.

Well, I kept fiddler crabs for a while. They were kinda cool. You did however, have to give them access to air. Someone on here used a fishbowl under the water with air trapped in it- but I never tried it. You would have to drop your waterlevel down and have something sticking out the top for them to come out on.

They never bothered any of my fish. Actually- they were great for cleaning up stuff.

They are some darn escape artists though. One I caught climbing down my cord to my heater and the other I never found a trace of (yet). You need a VERY tight fitting cover.

I had some fiddler crabs (I think) when I was a kid in with mollies. The crabs never bothered the fish other than to eat the occasional dead one. As someone said above though, they are REALLY good at escaping from their tanks. I can't tell you the number of times we came home to the crabs walking across the rug. I don't know how they survived the fall from the tank to the floor but it never seemed to bother them. In total we had them for about 3 years until a heater broke and cooked the tank.

Thanks for the info! If I see some I might get a couple once I read up on their requirements for air. Would a bubbler work? Would they go up to it to get air?
