Links don't work. Try using the IMG tag straight from photobucket.

Looks like blue and red to me.

Also, it looks like a veiltail.

Given betta genetics I think that's considered a 'multicolor'.
See here (http://watershed3.tripod.com/types.html) and here (http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_colors.htm).

They usually sell those as a Multicolor/Multi, its a veil tail and yep a petstore mutt. Ive owned 3-4 of similar looking over my stent in the hobby...still find them some of the most attractive colored ones :11:

So are the most common bettas you see at pet stores veil tails? Beautiful betta by the way.

No offense ... But I'd really like if you didnt call him a pet store mutt. I know he is but still i love him so much. So he's a Veiltail :) yay :)

thanks so much pleco 380 :)

What is wrong with mutts? My dog is a mutt and I guarantee he's a better dog than many purebreds. Most bettas from big box stores are mutts.

Mutts are usually less prone to genetic diseases and are often more healthy than "pure" stock as well, no need to take offense to the term "mutt" it really isnt a bad thing.

amen for the mutts.lol

and another thing.......

Hey your betta and my betta look exactly alike. except mine is currently haggard from being treated for ick for the past nearly 14 days.

i thought those were crowntail for some reason though.

Yeah, common multi. It's mixed genetics so it's a crapshoot as to what you'll get when breeding. There's signs of Crowntail mixed in there too.

I know all about mutts and I love mutts. Its just I would never walk up and call someones pet a mutt ... it comes across as rude. I had a mutt puppy. Loved her like my own child. and is there any way to get inexpensive pure bred fish?

I love mutts but I'm just curious :)

Almost all bettas in fish stores are veiltales. I dont think hes a mutt. I much prefer "mutts" to a solid red color for sure.

they have CT's and various females here. But I'm kinda curious ... Other than aquabid where could I get other varieties of betta?

Aquabid will be your easiest and cheapest route, just look for sellers within the US. Shipping is generally pretty cheap, and the fish themselves can be found for around $15-30 for a good quality purebred fish. If you get fish in the US, you can avoid a transhipper and all of the mess that goes along with that.

Bettysplendens.com I own four of her Betta and they're exceptional quality. Their health is superior as well, not just the colouration and finnage. I highly recommend Victoria's Bettas!

BTW, the Asian dealers on Aquabid are great breeders as well and produce some very exceptional Betta. If you're ordering several Betta this is sometimes the best method. If you're ordering just one or two though... well the shipping is painful.
