Hey all, we've been members for a little bit and I think it's about time we posted our 50 gallon. Tank is an AGA 36"x18"x18", drilled in the back, and running a 20 gallon sump. We have a Mag 7 return pump and 2 Koralia 2's in the display. Lighting is 6x39W Nova Extreme Pro T5 HO. We started this off in a 20 gallon high in November 2008 and upgraded to the 50 gallon in July 2009, so the tank is approaching 2 years old. The only resident at this time is a black saddle clown. Anyway, here are some pics...

Ok, a before and after. This pic is from February.

Thank you!
I'll be really happy if we can get rid of the bubble algae and flatworms, lol.

One of the best things about this tank for me is that every coral in it has grown out from a captive raised frag. :)

Man, the clown looks mean in that pic! lol

Great pics.

Did your LFS sell you that Candy Cane as a Kryptonite Candy Cane?

No, that's just what I thought it was after researching it. It looks completely different (much brighter) in person, I'm just not much of a photographer, lol. Think it's something else?

The candy cane was our first coral and a gift from my then GF. :) It was just sold to us (at the LFS she had worked at for years) as a candy cane coral at a very nice "friend price". Is it something else? I'm not much of an "LE named" coral guy. We're just lucky to have a great local reef club.

No, it is definitely a Candy Cane, but it's not a Kryptonite Candy Cane. A Kryptonite Candy Cane is pretty much neon green. I have 2 that look just like yours, and my LFS has had a Krypto, and it is a much brighter green. Yours is a beautiful coral though. If you ever get up to Greenville SC, check out Oceans Floor. They have some great corals.

It is neon green in person. It isn't showing up well in the pics. It looks just like all the pics of kryptonite I've seen. At any rate, we've really enjoyed this coral and we've grown it out from about 4-5 heads. It is the first coral we got together.:1luvu:
