as some of u may know i am planning on restocking my 55g. currently the fish i am most strongly considering are fire mouths and yoyo loaches. but i was wondering if fire mouths are going to tear up and eat my plants?

Firemouths do not eat the plants but they are diggers. They tear them up that way.

I agree with Laddy Hobbs

My firemouths don't eat the plants but they sure do like to dig around in the substraight.

I just took some rocks and placed them around the base of my rooted plants so they would not up-root them. It's worked really well for me so far

agreed, if you dont mind replanting plants alot then you should be fine. You can also achor the plants to wood/rocks and they should go unbothered. The fish like to dig at the base of plants because they are very likely to find some sort of small water bug or something at the base of a plant. Cichlids are always hungry and will do whatever they can to secure a meal.
