A little over a month ago I posted a thread asking advice on breeding tiger barbs. [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

I put the male and female into a ten gallon with a few plastic plants and a large flat rock. The barbs swam around for a while but they didn't seem to be flirting to me. I left them in there for about 3 or 4 days and then took them out because i couldn't spot any eggs. I kept my eye on the tank for the next few days to look for small fry on the bottom but never spotted anything so I stopped looking altogether. For the last month the tank has had no light, no filtration, no food and about a fifth of the water has evaporated. Today I went to go empty the tank and clean it and to my great surprise there were two fairly large and healthy looking barbs!!

I'm amazed these little guys made it without some food. LOL That was quite a surprise, I'm sure.

I'll bet you had more of them and they were forced to cannibalize each other to survive. Not good in that respect, but cool that you had a successful breeding attempt!

Yeah I imagine they ate any eggs that didn't hatch or each other. Its amazing how nature finds a way
