I just lost my male GBR, leaving me with 2 females only. I am trying to decide what to do next.

My options that I can see are:
1) Rehome the 2 females and add a bunch more tetras, so I have a couple of really nice schools.

2) Get a new male and let the ladies fight over him. The way my tank is currently decorated, there aren't a lot of hiding places. I'm afraid the losing female would be harrassed to death, and I certainly don't want that.

3) Rehome ONE female and get a new male, then add to the Neon school.

See my sig for the rest of the 46g stock. Suggestions? Other options I haven't thought of? Thanks for the input!

this is a tricky spot. You could try to get another mate for one of the females but im pretty sure no matter how you do it one fish will get bullied pretty bad. If a pair forms the pair will likely kill the third wheel. If you remove one female and add a male they may not pair up and kill eachother. I think your best bet would be to add a ton of places that break the line of sight and get a couple more and keep a close eye on it until you get a pair. Then rehome the two fish that didnt pair.

Your other option is to just leave it as it is. Maybe add a few more corys. Two gals should be ok together.

One female is much more colorful than the other, and is chasing the pale one around the tank. I just redid the aquascaping over the weekend and ended up having to trim the plants so much (algae covered mess) that there isn't any real cover in the tank right now.

I don't really want to redo the tank AGAIN so soon, but I'll try to move some of the plants around to create a visual barrier.

A few more cories would be welcome - those are fun fish to watch.

If one is getting chased you may have to rehome her then. I honestly would just remove the fish that is being picked on, add a for more corys and leave it be. I have one ram in several tanks and they do just fine by them selves.

The ladies seem to be getting along better now, with less chasing around the tank.

I'm stopping at the lfs after work to check out cories and tetras to add to the tank.

Thanks for the input, folks. :22:
