When ever I need to find specs for a fish I can never find the real McCoy online or in books. Pleco's are funny. They range in all sizes from 4 1/2 inch to 18 inch ones. I have a 4 1/2" and it's getting kinda large for my guppy's to live with, even though it isn't prone to destroying my plants yet,and I 've had it for about 7 months. It's not the kind with white spots. It's more like a dark leopard pattern, isn't aggressive,in fact it's really timid. He's grown about 2 inch's,has tall sail fins on it's back and the tail fin is diagonal too, like the back fin, with 2 horns on his snout in front of his eyes.So I'm wondering if it'll get longer than it is now?Does anyone know?Did the LFS name it accurately?

its likely a leopard plec or more accuratly Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps.I have had one for about 4 yrs and he is about 10".They top out around 15-18" in a well kept tank.I do believe this is the one we recomended you rehome a few months ago.

Yep that's the same fish. I guess I'll start looking for an adoption center, or cull it, when it's out grown the tank.

Its always easier to give a fish away to someone with the right sized tank then it is to try ad sell it.If no one you know wants it or any lfs in your area won't give you credit or accept it as a donation then advertise it on Craig's list.
At least the first two options you get a chance to see it and the tank it goes into.It beats killing it.

Did you really mean cull as in kill it? Your back posting for not even a few days and are already just you were as before?

A single SAE isn't too overstocked in a 10. The problem is they would kill everything else...

Really? Sae are ravenous killers? I thought that was the godzilla like cae:hmm3grin2orange: any way the sae is not a fish for 10gal mostly because they need more then one. That and they reach about 5 or 6 inches and that alone makes then to big for a 10 gal.
